The person who does the hair and makeup, NOT the embalming process, or the actual funeral planning process, just the simple hair and makeup. Is there a certain type of school i should attend, do I need a degree in cosmetology or anything of that sort?I want to become a mortician or the person who does the makeup, how do i go about doing that?
Make-up is done by the funeral director most of the time, We are extensively trained in mortuary school on how to do the cosmetics (it isn't the same as on a live person), therefore, very, very few funeral directors employ cosmetologists, we all do it ourselves. Everyone just thinks we pay other people to do it because of the movie My Girl. It is fairly uncommon to find a funeral home hiring a cosmetologist.
We do usually pay someone to do the hair, though, so you may want to consider hair school.I want to become a mortician or the person who does the makeup, how do i go about doing that?
All I have to say is the lady in ';My Girl'; just wanted to get into Hollywood and doing make-up was like her hobby.
Depending on regulations in your state, you may also have to attend mortuary school. Check the Internet for more specific info on your area. Good luck!
Yep.
You have to be a cosmetologist. So you'll need to go to cosmetology school. Makeup application and hairstyling on the dead is no simple task. You'll be responsible for corrective makeup and covering up autopsy cuts and extra care has to be taken.
I plan to do something similar part time, the money is great because very few people are willing to work with dead ';clients.';
I've too been interested in doing something similiar to what you're talking about...I would tallk to a mortician in your area about what would be required for that-it all depends on where you live- in regards to the rules/regulations for that particular area. Good Luck!
Spend the day w/ a mortician %26amp; ask how you can get into their field %26amp; maybe you can become an apprentice.
You need to attend beauty school for 4 months, so that you can learn the techniques of both make-up and hair. After that, places like Gene Juarez and Sephora will promote you to work at their stores until you can get info from top-designing makeup artists for interning with them.
Mortician is Funeral Director. You must be refering to Makeup artist.
To be a good reputable makeup artist you should attend formal course for it where they will teach you on different types of skin color, makeup color, how to apply makeup and also hairstyling. When you graduate from the school/course you should be getting your certificate to get you started.
Some of the school may have association with salons and you may be able to get customers / jobs from there.
Practice makes perfect, so you should get going with your research on a good %26amp; reputable school.
