How to make makeup less cakey?

Okay so I've heard about trying to blend it in more, and using less, but it doesn't cover up. But then if I try to make it cover better, it just makes it look cakey. How to make makeup less cakey?
Try Cover Girl Tru-Blend. It does what it says so I dont need to explain it lol. But its perfect for my skin and I just love it!How to make makeup less cakey?
maybe you should try a tinted moisturizer or something like that, they give you great coverage and don't feel cakey at all, i recommend laura mercier tinted moisturizer but it is pricey, you could also check out milani, because they have one also, here is the laura mercier website

Try Mineral Basics: www.mineralbasics.com It gives a very light, flawless finish. Doesn't feel like you're wearing makeup at all, is better than Bare Minerals, and a full kit is only $15. Just make sure you apply it properly with a kabuki brush per instructions.
i've seen this first-hand on a lady at a make-up event in a salon. the demonstration was intentional as it showed one key step was missing. a good quality, light weight (suitable to your skin type) moisturiser. make sure you are not using a moisturiser that leaves a residue on the skin's surface. after allowing the moisturiser to settle, apply a make-up base that has a mattifying effect (i use art deco) and then apply a mineral powder (foundation, not a regulary translucent powder). mineral powder will cover up imperfections, but gives you a light feeling and it does not clog the pores!!
if using liquid foundation try using a sponge and with loose powder, try a blush brush
i used 2 have the same problem!!! u should buy ';id bare minerals'; it covers so good %26amp; it doesnt look like u have makeup on!! its s0 c00l %26amp; after i started using it it even cleared up mi skin! i get alot of complements on mi skin now. its kinda expensive buh totaly worthit! if u go 2 buety stores the kit costs $60 %26amp; lasts a long tym or u can order it 4 the web site 4 the same amount %26amp; u get a bunch of extra stuff 2 pluss they give u a dvd in the kit 2 give u tips its a very good investment 4 beautiful skin!
Make sure you are wearing a moisterizer under your makeup. Also ALWAYS use a brush to put it on if you are having cakiness problems...

If you are tring to cover dark spots or redness then try Smashbox's new primer and it will hide those things so you can use less makeup and still get the coverage!
Try not to use liquids so much. Stick to sheer powder foundations. Also, try to avoid matte looking makeup, go for power of a shine!
I think that your using the wrong makeup then! I recommend anything by Benefit but for a bronzer, use Hoola by Benefit and for blush, use Dallas by Benefit. I hope this helps!
use an actual concealer under your foundation. its normally about a shade or 2 lighter to cover up your blemishes and imperfections. DO NOT USE THE CONCEALER ALL OVER YOUR FACE! just on the bad spot like a pimple. and use less of the actual foundation. also try a more expensive make up, they tend to blend better! when i use liquid make up i love the MAC studio finish for concealer and foundation. it has great coverage and doesn't look cakey! and its not that expensive!

GOOD LUCK GIRL!
